Sexenni expands their latest album with ‘Joc de nens (L’expansió)’: more rumba, more party, and more Lleida

Lleida-based band Sexenni, one of the most promising acts in the Catalan music scene, presents Joc de nens (L’expansió) — the deluxe reissue of their acclaimed third studio album. This new version includes two brand-new songs, standout collaborations, and remixes that further define their festive, rooted, and ever-evolving sound.
One of the highlights of this expanded edition is the new single Avall lo paper, a carefree, upbeat rumba in collaboration with Yung Rajola. The song celebrates rural imagery and Lleida’s most authentic spirit. It tells the wild tale of Macot, a village grandpa who stirred up the town of Alguaire by shouting “Avall lo paper!” (“Down with the paper!”) from the Sacred Heart monument — a humorous, pride-filled metaphor that gives voice to the Ponent region.
Five years after Crema Catalana, Sexenni and Yung Rajola team up again — this time with a rumba twist — paying tribute to local figures like Lo Parrano, Lo Beethoven, and Lo Gitano de Balaguer. The release coincides with Lleida’s most festive season, between the Festa Major and the Aplec del Caragol, where the band debuted the album at home.
The reissue also features Enlloc com a casa (“Nowhere like home”), an emotional rumba about returning to one’s hometown after a year in the city. Sampling the Olympic classic Amigos para siempre by Los Manolos, the track comes with a participatory music video built from clips sent in by fans, capturing their summer memories in their villages.
In addition, Joc de nens (L’expansió) includes recent collaborations like their cover of Fantastic Shine with Santi Balmes for the La Marató album by 3Cat, as well as remixes of hits like La Faràndula (with DJ Trapella), Mòbil, claus i cartera (with Mon DJ), and Lamine Yamal (with Sergi Sánchez).
Following the success of their previous albums Retrats (Delirics, 2022) and Supernova (Delirics, 2023), and after performing at key events like Mercat de Música Viva de Vic, La Mercè (on the ELS40 and Cadena 100 stages), and iconic venues like Razzmatazz and Apolo, Sexenni cements their creative momentum with a project that blends music, territory, celebration, and identity.
