Júlia Català, singer, songwriter, and producer from Sant Cugat del Vallès, presents ‘Absència’, the first single from her upcoming project. With this release, the artist opens a new creative chapter, further establishing her distinctive voice within today’s music scene, where emotional depth and sonic exploration coexist naturally.

Blending pop and R&B, Absència offers a delicate yet profound reflection on personal relationships and the way we perceive ourselves. The song stems from a universal but rarely articulated feeling: not knowing what place we occupy in other people’s lives. From this starting point, Júlia Català builds an intimate narrative that leads to a revealing realization: perhaps it is precisely this sense of emptiness that allows others to find comfort and refuge in her presence.

Inspired by a passage from Haruki Murakami’s novel Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage, the track explores the duality between inner fragility and the way we are perceived by others, transforming vulnerability into a space for genuine human connection.

One of the project’s defining elements is that Júlia Català herself produced the track, reinforcing her role as an artist with a comprehensive vision of her work. Her involvement brings a unique sensitivity to a field where female representation still has significant room to grow. The result is a sound that feels carefully crafted, honest, and fully aligned with her artistic universe.

The song was mixed and mastered by Roger Rodés (Medusa Estudio).

The single is accompanied by a music video that further expands this visual narrative, portraying relationships through a close and everyday perspective. Through simple moments and scenes drawn from real life, the video highlights those invisible connections that quietly shape who we are.

With this first release, Júlia Català continues to strengthen a rapidly growing artistic project. She has performed at events such as Festival Petits Camaleons and at venues across Barcelona’s live music circuit, including Rouge Cocktail Club, establishing herself as one of the most promising young artists in the current scene.

On July 20, she will perform at Festival Nits d’Occident, where she will present this new artistic chapter live for the first time.
